Elrunia Elmsford

Elrunia, born and bred in the grand village of Avalon, she is the sole survivor of Valaeria and Jarood Elmsford. Elrunia was born into the chaos of the demise of Arthur the King. In the gray mist of the swamps her parents were visited by a dark wizard who's name I dare not speak. He had heard of the brave deeds of Jarood in his attempt to get word to the king's guards of an impending attack. It was the last time Elrunia saw her family alive again. It must have been Fate's hand or a boon from the God of Albion that the tiny child, Elrunia, was spared from the horror that befell her family.

Shortly after, a wandering monk surveying the wreckage of the household discovered her. She was taken to the church in the darkness of night for fear that the evil that had fallen over her house would return to destroy her as well. It was there that she first heard tale of God and his works. She grew up a normal happy child, filled with the blessings of a life without memory of the past. Under the guide of the clerics and the friars of the church, her knowledge of magic slowly grew and her childlike innocence gave way to an unusually wise adolescence. She seemed to have a gift bestowed upon her that let her see into the hearts of men and their intensions were somehow known. The clerics did well to see this early, and helped as they could to teach Elrunia how to wield this power for the good of all rather than the whims of a child.

Upon the thirteenth season of her life, the clerics saw fit to take her on a pilgrimage to Camelot to visit the historical churches and cathedrals of its time. She was immediately drawn to Camelot's house of God. It was a magnificent sight to behold for any man, but for small youth this was even more. On the seventh night of her stay the storm clouds drew in and Elrunia was fast asleep in the pews of the church. It was there a nightmare was brought to bear on the young girl that no one could have foreseen. The death of strangers, so violent, and so real it was all drawn out in her mind. In this dream the vile blackness of the night gave way to flashes of silver and red that would drive a mans heart to stop cold from fight. The winds howled and the ground shook as the swirling pockets of rain clashed upon the wooden roof of a cottage so familiar.

On the morning after, Elrunia was quickly escorted from the city of Camelot and back to her home in the church in Avalon. The clerics and friars talked amongst themselves busily always careful to lower to a whisper whenever Elrunia would draw to close. Her future was as unsure as her heart as the events of the next few nights were filled with isolation as the members of the church chatted the nights away to decide her future. In the end, she was asked to leave the church. It was feared that her dream was a vision of their destruction and it was determined that she must return to Camelot on her own to find her way and cleanse the evil that possessed her mind.

On the road with little of value and barely a drop to drink, she sank down to the earth to rest. A solitary tear rolled down her cheek into a pool of water from the nights rain. It was there in the ripple of the pool, that His vision appeared. "Your mind is haunted by your past", whispered in her ears. "Go forth to Camelot and all shall become clear and a task to you be given". Strangely, her mind was eased, and she felt a renewed energy and continued on her way. And thus, begins the travels of Elrunia...
